Among Us turns a routine space mission into an argument you may remember long after the round ends. One minute, everyone is quietly completing tasks. The next, a body is reported, the meeting screen opens, and the entire lobby is trying to decide whose story does not add up.

Each match places you on one of two opposing teams. Crewmates repair systems, watch other players, and search for evidence. Impostors blend into the group, create distractions, and remove Crewmates without getting caught. The rules are easy to learn, but convincing real players to trust you is where the challenge begins.

What Is Among Us?

Among Us is a multiplayer social-deduction game developed by Innersloth. A lobby supports 4–15 players, with most participants joining the Crewmate team while one or more hidden players become Impostors.

Crewmates win by completing the shared task bar or ejecting every Impostor. The opposing team wins by reducing the number of surviving Crewmates until it reaches parity with the remaining Impostors. An unresolved critical sabotage can also give the Impostor team an immediate victory.

Optional roles add extra abilities to the standard formula. Depending on the host’s settings, a match may include roles such as Engineer, Scientist, Guardian Angel, Shapeshifter, Tracker, Noisemaker, Phantom, Detective, or Viper.

Gameplay and Win Conditions

A round begins after the host chooses the map, number of Impostors, available roles, task count, player speed, voting time, and other lobby settings. Every player then receives a hidden role before appearing at a starting location.

Crewmates move around the map and interact with highlighted panels to complete short tasks. These activities can involve repairing wires, entering codes, aligning objects, downloading data, or operating equipment. Completing every assigned task fills the group task bar and secures a Crewmate victory.

Impostors receive a fake task list to help them blend in, but they cannot complete real tasks. Instead, they can eliminate players, close doors, move through vents, and sabotage important systems. Some sabotages reduce visibility or disable information, while critical emergencies must be repaired before the timer expires.

When a body is reported or an emergency meeting is called, active players discuss what happened and vote. Good evidence helps, but a confident lie can be just as influential when the lobby is uncertain.

How to Play Among Us

1. Join an online lobby, create a private room, or connect through local Wi-Fi.
2. Wait for the host to select the match settings and begin the round.
3. Check whether you are a Crewmate, an Impostor, or an optional special role.
4. Follow your task list if you are on the Crewmate team.
5. Watch where other players go and remember who was near important locations.
6. Report a body when you find one or call an emergency meeting when you have useful evidence.
7. Explain your route clearly and listen for contradictions in other players’ stories.
8. Vote carefully, because ejecting an innocent Crewmate helps the Impostor team.

PC Controls

• Movement: Select Mouse + Keyboard in the settings to move with WASD.
• Tasks and menus: Use the mouse to interact with task panels, settings, and voting screens.
• Actions: Use the contextual action buttons or assigned keys to interact, report, kill, or enter a vent.
• Map: Open the map to locate tasks and important rooms.

The official PC version uses mouse controls by default. Players who want to move with WASD should enable the Mouse + Keyboard option from the General settings menu.

Mobile Controls

• Move with the virtual joystick or selected touch-control option.
• Tap Use when standing near an available task or interactive object.
• Tap Report when you are close enough to a body.
• Role-specific buttons appear when actions such as sabotaging, killing, tracking, or venting are available.

Controller Support

The console editions use controller-based movement and contextual action buttons. The Steam edition also lists full controller support. Button placement can differ between platforms, so check the in-game control menu for the layout used by your device.

Maps and Game Modes

The game currently includes five main maps, and each one changes how players collect information and plan their routes:

• The Skeld: A compact spaceship with recognizable rooms, connected vents, and straightforward routes for new players.
• MIRA HQ: A tighter headquarters map with long corridors, limited vent separation, and door logs.
• Polus: A research base with large outdoor areas, separated buildings, and several ways to approach important rooms.
• The Airship: A much larger map with ladders, moving platforms, multiple starting areas, and a Meeting Room instead of a cafeteria.
• The Fungle: A deserted island featuring beaches, cliffs, mushroom-filled areas, ziplines, and its own selection of tasks.

Classic mode delivers the familiar task, sabotage, discussion, and voting experience. Hide n Seek changes the pace by revealing the Impostor and asking the remaining players to survive until the timer ends. A solo Freeplay or Practice option is also available for learning maps, testing tasks, and experimenting with roles without joining a normal public match.

Crewmate Tips That Actually Help

• Remember routes, not just colors: Knowing where someone came from is often more useful than remembering that they looked suspicious.
• Use task information carefully: An Impostor may stand near a panel, but the time spent there may not match the real task.
• Do not ignore sabotages: Lights create dangerous blind spots, while an unresolved critical sabotage can end the round immediately.
• Share precise information: During meetings, mention the room, nearby players, and the direction in which they were moving.
• Check isolated rooms: A missing player may have been eliminated somewhere that is outside your normal task route.
• Avoid blind accusations: Explain the evidence behind your suspicion and allow the accused player to answer.

How to Play as an Impostor

A convincing Impostor does more than chase the nearest target. You need a believable route, a realistic fake task, and a reason for being in each room. Standing at a task panel for the wrong amount of time can expose you to experienced players.

• Use sabotages to divide the crew or pull players away from a body.
• Turn off the lights before moving through busy areas where witnesses may recognize you.
• Avoid entering or leaving vents when another player has a clear view.
• Remember that Engineers may also use vents when that role is enabled.
• Do not invent a complicated story that will be difficult to repeat during the next meeting.
• If two Impostors are active, coordinate your timing instead of competing for the same target.
• Join discussions and ask useful questions without forcing suspicion onto someone too quickly.

Online Play, Crossplay, and Browser Versions

The official game supports cross-platform multiplayer between compatible PC, mobile, and console editions. This makes it possible for friends using different devices to join the same lobby, provided their games are updated and they can connect to the selected lobby.

Innersloth’s official platform listings do not currently identify a native web-browser edition. If a version runs directly on a browser-games website, it may be an independent adaptation with different controls, content, multiplayer features, or ownership. It should not be presented as an official Innersloth release unless that relationship has been confirmed.
